Integrated information structure collapses with anesthetic loss of conscious arousal in Drosophila melanogaster

چکیده

The physical basis of consciousness remains one the most elusive concepts in current science. One influential conjecture is that to do with some form causality, measurable through information. integrated information theory (IIT) proposes conscious experience, filled rich and specific content, corresponds directly a hierarchically organised, irreducible pattern causal interactions; i.e. an informational structure among elements system. Here, we tested this simple biological system (fruit flies), estimating during wakefulness general anesthesia. Consistent conjecture, found interactions populations neurons collapsed isolated clusters We used classification analysis quantify accuracy discrimination between wakeful anesthetised states, structures inferred states greater than scalar summary structure, measure which generally championed as main IIT. In stark contrast view assumes feedforward architecture for insect brains, especially fly visual systems, structures, cannot arise from purely occurred across brain. Further, these uniformly brain Our results speak potential utility novel concept “informational structure” level consciousness, above beyond values.

Calreticulin mediates anesthetic sensitivity in Drosophila melanogaster.

BACKGROUND Various species, e.g., Caenorhabditis elegans, Drosophila melanogaster, and mice, have been used to explore the mechanisms of action of general anesthetics in vivo. The authors isolated a Drosophila mutant, ethas311, that was hypersensitive to diethylether and characterized the calreticulin (crc) gene as a candidate of altered anesthetic sensitivity. METHODS Molecular analysis of c...

Toxicological Evaluation of a New Lepidopteran Insecticide, Flubendiamide, in Non-Target Drosophila melanogaster Meigen (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

Background: Flubendiamide, comparatively a new pesticide designed to eradicate lepidopteran insect pests is known to have low risk to birds, mammals, fish, algae, honey bees, non-target arthropods, earthworms, soil macro- and micro-organisms, non-target plants as well as sewage treatment organisms; however, the risk assessment for aquatic invertebrates from metabolite could not be finalized wit...

Nucleosomal Structure of Two Drosophila melanogaster Simple

Nucleosomes have been fractionated on nondenaturing polyacrylamide gels, and nucleosome subtypes containing the Drosophila melanogaster specific protein D l and ubiquitinated core histone H2A were identified by solubility in 0.1 M NaCl before nucleoprotein gel electrophoresis. Nucleosomes which contain DNA complementary to the 1.672 density simple satellite (sequence -AATAT-) bind protein D l ,...

Aconitase and Developmental EndPointsasEarly IndicatorsofCellularToxicity Induced by Xenobiotics in Drosophila Melanogaster

Background: In this study, the toxicity of the different xenobiotics was tested on the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster model system.  Methods: Fly larvae were raised on food supplemented with xenobioticsat different concentrations (sodium nitroprusside (0.1-1.5 mM), S-nitrosoglutathione (0.5-4 mM), and potassium ferrocyanide (1 mM)). Emergence of flies, food intake by larvae, and pupation h...
